Cedar Creek Consulting assisted and facilitated the design of the KAMO Rural Electric COOP campus. The existing facility was situated within the FEMA 100 Year Floodplain and was subject to continuous highwater, making the site inaccessible and at risk of flooding. Cedar Creek worked diligently with the owners and architects to bring the future building and parking above and out of the flood plain. Further, it was necessary to create a design that would ensure the risk of flooding to the existing buildings would not increase and phased in such a way that they did not lose any work days. As part of the design team we presented at the annual board members meeting for scrutiny and vote. The project proceeded into the design phase in which we contracted and managed specialized professionals including the surveyor, geotechnical engineer, environmental specialist, and wetlands consultant. The project required extensive coordination/permitting with the Corps of Engineers, FEMA, ODOT, City of Vinita, and ODEQ. This close coordination continued throughout the construction phase. In the end the KAMO headquarters building sits on a beautiful campus that is accessible outside of the floodplain.
